Qasimi Returns to Fashion Week After Four-Year Hiatus

welcome back!

After a four-year long hiatus from the runway, UAE-born London-based menswear label Qasimi has finally made its comeback by staging a triumphant Spring 2025 ready-to-wear show in London during Men’s Fashion Week. In partnership with American visual artist Kambui Olujimi, the two collaborators unveiled a collaborative new line “that merges art, sculpture, and fashion, delving into profound themes of identity, history, and socio-politics,” per a shared statement.

Known for her sensitivity for the world of arts, the newly appointed artistic director of the 2026 Sydney Biennale, Hoor Qasimi– who took over the reigns after her twin brother who founded the label passed away in 2019–drew substantial inspiration from Olujimi’s When Monuments Fall series — a body of work that explores the impact and role of physical monuments.

Breezy silhouettes in this new collection leave room for the body to roam freely, each one carrying a structure of its own with the help of several materials, including medium-weight silk twill, sheer cotton voile, and wool. Dancing between casual comfort and the more refined, a central concept explored here is the notion of spolia which «involves integrating elements from older structures into new designs.

What’s more, techniques such as digital printing, image granulation, and fading were also employed to capture the passing nature of time as well as the shifting significance of the original artworks used to bring this line to life.

“Our work with Olujimi allowed us to delve deep into these themes, aligning perfectly with Qasimi’s ethos of cultural dialogue and storytelling,” the creative director said about the label’s latest collection.

“I was thrilled to work with Qasimi because of their history of international collaborations and their eagerness for experimentation,” Olujimi said in turn.

This presentation marked the first live show to be held under Hoor’s creative direction.
